What mistakes do companies make when investing in their marketing? And why should you gas uphill? Emma Leinerdal, a numbers person out at her fingertips and bureau chief and digital strategist at Smarkify, gives her top tips.

Almost five years ago, Emma Leinerdal was hired as one of the first employees at Smartify. Her background in retail as a store manager and sales manager and her training in Digital Strategy, made her the perfect fit for the role of digital strategist.

I had been working for a long time with the buying behaviour of customers in physical stores, making sure they pick down what we want in the shopping basket. I took that experience around buying behavior and audience customization to the next step; the digital.

Today, Emma is also the head of the agency, which means that she has overall responsibility for the agency. Together with CEO and founder Niloo Lopez, she co-directs the ship.

It's a perfect role. Because I still work operationally in client projects. I want to be part of the projects and what we deliver to the customer, then I see what skills we have and what is in demand. And it's much more fun!

Common Market Mistakes

So how come other companies need help with their marketing? What are some common challenges that companies need help with?

Most companies want to increase their lead generation and strengthen their brand. At the same time, many do not count on the time and resources needed to cover all tasks; such as SEO, advertising, graphic design, copywriting and strategy.

When time and resources are not available, the work is not done properly, and that is why the leads shine with their absence.

Many people want to do everything but don't have time. That's where we come in and structure up the work and offload. We can show which market efforts companies should prioritize and which can be taken later.

Emma is a numbers person, and believes that companies that see the value of investing in a long-term strategy, dare to test, and are quick-footed are the ones that see results the fastest.

There is a purpose and strategy behind the work, and a way to maintain continuity. It must not be half-done. We always include facts and figures in all our decisions. That's when you see results.

Smarkify: A digital agency that gasses

Smarkify has grown rapidly, despite the fact that a lot has happened around the world since the agency was founded in 2020. Just three months after the start came Corona and after that several world crises have arisen in the form of low pressure and wars in Europe, affecting most companies. So how has Smarkify been able to grow under such tough conditions?

Niloo doesn't give up at an adversity, she believes in gassing uphill, and that has certainly paid dividends. We are not afraid to invest even in tough times and therefore we have expanded with more customers and more employees.

But the most important success factor is the work environment and culture at the agency, where the well-being of the team is the highest priority.

The fact that we are happy and happy employees is a prio. Everyone is involved in building this company together and it feels really good. We are incredibly good friends and that is the biggest success. It's a hell of a cruel team that we're very proud of.
